MatPortal News Launches German and French Editions, Plus German Dataset Guidance

MatPortal News launched reviewed German and French editions for its May and June stories, while German users also gained localized dataset-detail, quality, FAIR, unit-profile, and contextual Assistant guidance.

Reviewed News translations

At the July 19 launch, the six then-existing News stories from May and June were available in reviewed German and French editions, representing 12 reviewed translations. Additional stories can receive their own reviewed editions as they are published. Readers see a reviewed translation when one is available for the selected language and the English article otherwise.

Localized feeds and stable links

Use the header language menu to read available German or French editions on the home News list, News index, and article pages. The RSS and Atom feeds also use the selected language where reviewed article fields are available. Article URLs and feed item identifiers remain the same across languages, so a translated edition does not create a second canonical News item.

German dataset quality guidance

German localization also covers key parts of the dataset experience: the dataset-detail shell and tabs, Quality and readiness panels, explanations of FAIR evidence and missing metadata, unit-profile states, and contextual dataset Assistant labels. Source metadata and evaluator values remain unchanged, stable criterion IDs stay stable, and unrecognized source keys are shown without being rewritten.

What remains unchanged

This release does not represent a full-site translation or French localization of the DataGraph dataset experience. News displays reviewed German or French article fields when they are available and falls back to English otherwise. To explore the available editions, open the News index and switch language; for German dataset guidance, open a dataset and select its Quality tab.
