One FAIR Landscape, Two Separate Profiles for Ontologies and Datasets

The MatPortal FAIR Landscape brings ontology O'FAIRe and Dataset FAIR views into one workspace, with separate tabs, selectors, criteria, and scores that are not blended or directly compared.

Two profiles, one workspace

The MatPortal FAIR Landscape now places two independent public metadata assessments in one workspace. Separate tabs are labelled Ontologies — O'FAIRe and Datasets — MatPortal Dataset FAIR v1. The profiles use different evaluators, criteria, and scales, so the interface does not combine their scores or present a direct ontology-versus-dataset comparison.

Explore ontology FAIRness

The Ontologies tab summarizes O'FAIRe results for public ontology metadata. Its launch snapshot contained 255 ontology resources and reported aggregate credits and normalized percentages. Selecting one ontology updates the ontology profile without changing the dataset profile. The displayed result describes assessed catalogue metadata, not the scientific correctness of an ontology.

Explore dataset FAIRness

The Datasets tab shows the MatPortal Dataset FAIR v1 profile for public-and-published dataset metadata. Its launch snapshot contained 187 datasets and reported aggregate Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable values. Select a dataset to view its score, coverage, and assessment status, or choose Browse datasets to open the catalogue and inspect criterion-level evidence in a dataset's Quality tab.

How not to compare the scores

Read each profile on its own. Ontologies and datasets have different metadata expectations, evaluators, and scales, so their values must not be combined or treated as equivalent. A higher result reports what the named profile found in the available metadata; it is not a certification and does not establish the scientific quality or usability of the resource. Open the FAIR Landscape to switch between the two profiles.
